Its the start of my blog!

A long time ago, I read a short newspaper article about Guns, Germs and Steel, and I remembered how it tried to explain the almost 'impossible to answer' question of the inherent differences among the various societies and civilizations among the human race. Slightly impressed, I borrowed the book and tried to read it. But to my horror, it was too long, too thick and too esoteric that I returned it back to the library that very same day.

But now, as I am much older and open-minded than my younger self, I was re-drawn into the book because I always wondered how some specific societies thrive more efficiently and obtain such a huge lead in all areas of development than other societies. Is it because of optimal geographic location? Maybe a lot of luck? Or is it what many biased theoreticians state as the superiority of one race? My questions were abundant and I hope that this novel could not only answer my questions fully but also give me a complete and thorough explanation to how we got to where we are today. Here's a link to amazon that refreshed my memory of the novel.

Apparently, they also made a documentary of the novel, maybe I would go watch them if I need to enhance my reading experience with graphics.
